Well, we bet for quite a few of you this trip will
be the first to Germany. With this page we will try to help you get around and plan your trip. As you already know, the
wedding will be in Bronnbach, Germany. Bronnbach is located in
southern Germany in the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg. The closest,
somewhat larger town is Wertheim, which has about 15,000 people
and is 5 miles to the north. Both towns are about 1 hour to the
southeast of Frankfurt. The Google map below should give you an
idea where it is in relationship to other big cities in Germany
and Europe.

Map
The map below shows you how to get to the final
destination once you have made it to Frankfurt. The region is
called Franken and is well known for its medieval towns and first-class
wines. Würzburg
for instance, has about 135,000 residents and a ton of churches
and impressive castles to visit. Along the Tauber you will find
a lot of old wine towns and small cities that were able to retain
their old charm. If you have some time on your hand we recommend
going to Rothenburg
o.d.T. This town is one of the most intact medieval towns
in Germany.

Flying-in: The closest airport is in Frankfurt.
In general, flights to Frankfurt are less expensive then to other
cities. But if you can find a cheaper flight to a different city
consider that you will have to drive much further, e.g., from
Munich about 4 hours or from Cologne about 4 1/2 hours.
Getting around: Once you have landed and want to get around on your own, we recommend renting a car.
Most major car rental companies have a station at the airport and accept an American drivers license.
I have used
EuropCar a number of times and never had a bad experience.
Remember most cars in Germany are stick-shift cars, so make sure
you reserve an 'automatic' car if you would like to rent an American
style vehicle.
Trains: For those of you who do not want to rent a car, there is the train-Deutsche Bundesbahn. If you will take the train from Frankfurt Airport book your ticket to either Wertheim or Würzburg. Let us know ahead of time and we'll arrange to have you picked up.
Paying: Remember to have some cash at hand. Although most places accept credit cards, quite a few don't, especially in the smaller towns.
Language: You will notice
that most people in Germany speak some English. You will always
find someone who at least knows someone who can tell you which
way to go or where to find your favorite Bratwurst.
Planning a trip around the wedding: Some of you may want to spend some time in Europe before or after the wedding. Countries like France, Italy, or Switzerland are not too far away and can easily be reached within a couple of hours by train or car.
